Douro is a Portuguese controlled designation of origin (DOC) for wines produced in the demarcated region of Douro, which encompasses the Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo and Douro Superior subregions, located in the north of the country, around the Douro river. This region is the same one that is demarcated for port production.

Proceeding from the granitics soils of the central region of Douro is a superior quality wine, produced from the tipical grapes of the región, prevalling the Touriga-Nacional, Tinta-Roriz and Jaen.
Alcohol content: 13% Vol.
Dark violet color, strong-bodied, and intense in both aroma and flavors, with high tannin levels. A quality often associated with the wines is that of flowers, most notably violets. Touriga Nacional wines typically age very well in bottle.
